The Situation
ZiaSky Solar was a solar installation company serving the New Mexico market. The business had an existing website but was generating minimal organic traffic — approximately 100 sessions per month — and was not appearing in search results for any meaningful solar keywords.
The solar industry in New Mexico represented a significant opportunity. New Mexico is one of the top states for solar adoption due to its sun exposure and incentive programs, but the SEO landscape was underserved: most solar installers in the market were not investing in content or local search optimization.
What We Did
Keyword Research & Content Strategy
We started with a comprehensive keyword research process focused on the New Mexico solar market. This identified three tiers of opportunities: informational queries about solar (costs, incentives, how solar works), local service queries (solar installation + city name combinations), and transactional queries (get solar quote, solar company near me).
We built a content strategy around these three tiers: informational articles for top-of-funnel visibility and topical authority, city landing pages for local search visibility, and optimized service pages for conversion-focused queries.
City Landing Pages
We created individual landing pages for the major New Mexico markets: Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Roswell, Farmington, and others. Each page was built with unique content specific to the city's solar market — local incentives, climate data, service area confirmation, and localized social proof.
This city page strategy is often the single highest-ROI SEO tactic for service businesses: it creates geographic specificity that Google rewards with local pack inclusion, and it gives searchers a page that feels relevant to their specific location.
Technical SEO & Schema
We audited and improved the site's technical foundation: page speed, Core Web Vitals, structured data for local business and service offerings, XML sitemap, and internal linking structure. Solar-specific schema markup helped Google understand the business type, service area, and offerings clearly.
New Mexico Solar Incentive Content
One of the most valuable content investments was a comprehensive guide to New Mexico solar incentives — the federal tax credit, state net metering policies, and utility rebate programs. This guide ranked for high-intent informational queries and established topical authority in the New Mexico solar market.
The Results
Organic traffic grew from approximately 100 monthly sessions to 3,400 — a 34× increase. The traffic growth brought a consistent pipeline of solar installation leads across multiple New Mexico markets.
The results were driven entirely by organic search — no paid advertising was used. This makes the traffic durable: unlike paid campaigns that stop when the budget runs out, the SEO investment continues to compound as the site's authority builds over time.
